FLASH JELLYBEAN FOR XPERIA S WITH LATEST FIRMWARE 6.2.B.0.211

Hello Xperia S owners.It has been a lot of frustration and anger for the Xperia S users since the past month.The update was not given under the specific time as portrayed by Sony. I, being an Xperia S owner, have faced the situation too. But now, we can rejoice as we are now free from the laggy Icecream sandwich! Sony has started rolling out new Jellybean Firmware for Xperia S. The availability of the update again depends on country/ region. PreRequisites:
  1. Flashtool
  2. The ftf file of the firmware. [Download firmware 6.2.B.0.211][when you download the fle,the file will be in a ".rar" format.All you have to do is rename the file format from ".rar" to ".ftf".
  3. You need to Enable USB Debugging mode in the Developer's option in Phone Settings.
    REMEMBER, FLASHING DOES NOT ROOT YOUR PHONE NOR DOES IT UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER,SO YOU WILL NOT LOSE YOUR DEVICE'S WARRANTY.
    PLEASE FOLLOW EACH STEP CAREFULLY.

      HOW TO FLASH OFFICIAL JELLYBEAN FOR XPERIA S:

      1.  Download and install the Flashtool on your PC. Now, go to C:\Flashtool , open the "drivers" folder and find "Flashtool-drivers" and run it as an administrator. Now the "Choose Components" window will open. Put a tick in front of Xperia S, Flashmode drivers and fastboot drivers. [ It happens sometimes that all the drivers are already installed on the PC.]
      2. After all the drivers are installed, go to C:\Flashtool and paste the downloaded ftf file of Xperia S, in the folder named “Firmwares
      3. Open  FlashTool.exe. When you open it,you will see "Device disconnected" at the end in the dialog box.
      4. Switch off your phone and wait for 30 seconds. Now connect your USB cable of phone to PC and the other end on your phone’s USB port. While inserting USB cable in your phone, holdVolume Down” button and then insert cable. You will see green light in notification LED which means your phone has been connected successfully in flashmode. You will see "Device connected in flashmode" written in the Flash tool window.
      5. Click on the BLACK LIGHTNING SYMBOL on the top left corner and in the mode selector choose "Flashmode".
      6. Now from “Select source folder” option please navigate to “C:\Flashtool\firmwares” and choose the firmware ftf file which you pasted in this folder. After doing this from option “Select a firmware”,choose the downloaded ftf file.See right side now. In the "WIPE" tab, Nothing should be ticked, in the "EXCLUDE" tab Nothing should be ticked and in the "MISC" tab tick "no final verification".
      7. After you click OK,the files will be prepared for flashing and after that the firmware will be installed on your phone.
      8. It might take a few minutes to flash a totally new firmware. DO NOT remove the battery or unplug the device.
      9. After the process is completed, unplug the device and reboot.
      10. First Reboot might take some time. Do not force a Reboot! You device has been successfully upgraded with Jellybean 4.1.2 ;)

      We have tried to make the tutorial as simple as possible. Please do not mess up with any of the instructions as it might lead to some severe damage to your device. As a safety precaution, I would recommend you to disable any Antivirus or Firewall installed on your device. All data on the device might get wiped off. Make a proper backup of everything!         7. Hi everyone, I upgraded my Xperia S to JB 4.1.2 and I have a problem with WIFI I'm not sure if it is a problem with android system or wifi adapter , it recives a very low signal from wireless modem or router even if I'm inside router's room my wifi bar don't get full.

          2. Thank you, I meant wifi adapter or hardware that is inside phone , some forums says that JB has some bugs with wifi signal anyway I downgraded it to GingerBread still same problem reciving too poor signal :/

          3. Check your phone with some other wifi hotspot ;)
            BTW, I myself use JB 4.2.2 and never faced any Wifi problems. Infact, wifi on jb seems faster than gb to me :P
            See the changelog and issues of the Rom you have installed, maybe its an unstable rom or something..

          can I use this to upgrade my Xperia SL (LT26ii)? Its currently on 4.1.2 and Build Number is 6.2.B.0.200

          I have trouble rooting it, hence want to upgrade it to 6.2.B.0.211

          Will the ftf from work for me.

          1. Yes you can. Since this is an official firmware, you dont need to root or unlock bootloader. It won't even void your warranty ;)
